Do you guys have a designated kids area that you decorate for the holidays? If not, you may want to consider it if you have the space for it!
Last year, Leana wasn’t even crawling around this time so we didn’t have to worry about her being interested in the Christmas decor but this year is a whole different story! Home girl is always on the go these days so I just knew that she’d be super into the decor. I made sure to buy shatterproof ornaments this year but I still wanted Leana to have her own set of Christmas decor that she could play with as much as she wanted, without me interfering. I originally bought her a mini tree but it was just too small so I decided on making. a wall hanging tree. It was the perfect idea! I even let her DIY her own ornaments.
I saw the wall hanging tree idea on youtube a few years ago but wanted.a quicker, simpler way to do it. Follow the steps below if you’d like to do the same for your mini!
What you’ll need:
- Garland
- Tape – I used painter’s tape
- Command strips
- Command hooks
- Ornaments/decor to hang onto tree
Step 1: Tape off shape of Christmas tree. It took me a few tries to get my desired shape but this was pretty easy to do.
Step 2: Affix garland to tape.
Step 3: Replace tape with command strips & hooks. Loop garland onto hooks.
Step 4: Decorate your tree! I bought clear ornaments & filler balls so that Leana could help me with that part & she loved it! You can add lights as well! If I can find small set of twinkle lights, I’ll add them to ours.

This came out so well! I love the ornaments that she helped make. I definitely went light on my Christmas decor this year because of Atlas. I didn’t decorate the tables or anything. This wall tree is such a good idea!
Thanks so much Taylor! She loved helping with those… until she started tasting the balls! I’m with you 100% on the light decor. No use in going all out just to have a toddler snatch it down!
This is such a cute idea for the kids room! I will definitely be getting these items to make a tree in my boys room. I might even let them each have one! I think this will be a good way to ensure my toddler doesn’t mess with the family tree. Plus my oldest son will have a reason to stay away from peaking in the boxes under the family tree! I’ll be sure to take you on IG!
Yes!! That’s exactly what I was hoping for too. Thank you!! I bet your boys will love it!
This came out good and is a great way to keep the kids from the actual christmas tree Love that she got to make some ornaments too.
Exactly!! Thanks Kelondra ?
This is such a cute idea! I never thought to DIY a tree for Nori. Saving this post to try out this December!
Thanks Brooke! Nori would love it!
